Elk are beautiful creatures that are called ruminant animals, which means they have a stomach with four chambers, which helps them to hold the grass, plants, leaves and bark they take in. In fact, you can see a lot of the foods in an elk diet live in nature by joining guided elk hunts.
You may even see an elk bull, or male elk, while you are on your expedition. You can tell a male from a female simply by listening. Males have a loud vocalization called bulging. This sounds can be heard for miles and miles, and is part of what attracts a female elk to a male.
